If Obama Wins We Will Live In A Vastly different World

Obama’s vision is far from that of Founding Fathers

by Star Parker

“Pushing back on accusations from John McCain that he’s a socialist, Barack Obama said, “I don’t know what’s next. By the end of the week, he’ll be accusing me of being a secret Communist because I shared my toys in kindergarten. I shared my peanut butter and jelly sandwich.”

Once again, we get the Obama oratorical fog. The problem isn’t what he does with his toys or sandwich, it’s what he sees as legitimate to do, under authority of government, with mine and yours.

“(McCain) has called me a socialist for wanting to roll back the Bush tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans so we can finally give tax relief to the middle class.”

Obama’s plans go much further than using the tax code to redistribute wealth.

He’s got about $700 billion in so-called refundable tax credits in mind, direct money transfers to individuals, to finance his social engineering ideas in education, child care, and environmental policy.”

Who says Jews are Smart?

By Jonathan Rosenblum

Virtually his whole public career has been closely intertwined with the unrepentant former Weatherman William Ayers.

Another member of Ayers’ Hyde Park circle was former PLO official and the current Edward Said Professor at Columbia University, Rashid Khalidi, whom Obama credits with opening his eyes to the plight of Palestinians. He has been heavily funded by the virulently anti-Israel George Soros. (link)

Obama has numerous ties to the Nation of Islam, in particular through Tony Rezko, the convicted, Syrian-born racketeer, who partly paid for Obama’s home.

Obama’s foreign policy advisors have included: Zbigniew Brzezinski, Jimmy Carter’s national security advisor and thirty-year critic of Israel; Samantha Powers, who has called for an end to aid to Israel and the introduction of American forces to protect the Palestinians; and Robert Malley, who has made a career of advancing, together with a former Arafat advisor, a revisionist account in which Israel was responsible for the breakdown of Camp David.

I always like to throw in a little humor to lighten things up.  My daughter and her husband are standing in line in New Jersey to vote right at this moment.  Starbucks is offering free coffee today.  So here is her message to me:

Starbucks is giving away free coffee today if you say you voted.  So Tim tells the people in line just now, that the coffee is free if you voted, but if you voted Democrat you have to pay tax on it!

LOL!

Borrowed Wisdom

Words of Wisdom borrowed from Dr. Thomas Sowell:

“Some of the most emotionally powerful words are undefined, such as “social justice,” “a living wage,” “price gouging” or a “fragile” environment, for example. Such terms are especially valuable to politicians during an election year, for these terms can attract the votes of people who mean very different– and even mutually contradictory– things when they use these words.”

When you listen to speechs or read campaign articles this election season, run the words through  a mental filter or better yet ask the speaker to define what he/she means if you are attending an event.  Keep in mind, the primary goal of any officeholder is to retain that office,  political or in business.  Frequently after hearing a rousing speech everyone leaves feeling good although each heard and remembers something different from the same words and phrases.

When I hear the words “common sense” my BS antenna goes up because “common sense” is not common at all.  It depends on a person’s lifetime experiences, culture and personality.  A minimum wage increase usually helps union members whose wages are tied to a multiple of the minimum wage, it harms lower paid employees who are laid off because small enterprises cannot support the higher costs.  (For more on that topic visit Thomas Sowell, Walter Williams, Larry Kudlow, Larry Elder at Townhall.com.)

His statement is available in the following link.  Go read it all.

Supreme Court rules in favor of terror suspects

Justice Kennedy led the charge last week in the latest Supreme Court decision to limit the federal government’s ability to combat terrorism. In a 5-4 decision, decried by Justice Scalia as “regretful”, the Court ruled that terror suspects in Guantanamo Bay cannot be denied the writ of Habeas Corpus. The “Great Writ”, as it’s called in American tradition, allows for the right to petition one’s detainment and has long been hailed as a symbol of liberty. But whose liberty are we trying to protect? This right has never been extended to foreigners before, and it’s possible in the near future hundreds of detainees will be pouring into courts with lawsuit in hand.

If you’re not worried about the increasing power of the Supreme Court and their uncanny habit of legislating from the bench - get worried. Justices are no longer immune from party politics as they were intended to be by the Framers, and now they’re bypassing previous decisions to fit their agenda. In his posturing, Kennedy bypassed a previous World War II ruling, Johnson v. Eisentrager, that decided foreigners held in American territory did not qualify for habeas corpus rights. The wisdom of our fathers did not matter, and it did not matter that President Bush convinced legislators to pass two of the most extensive set of rights ever given to prisoners of war in 2006.

The Supreme Court is a quickly becoming a juggernaut that’s trumping our institution of checks and balances. The Court is espousing its liberal world view without mercy on the American people. They think they know better than we do. When we vote to ban abortion - the Court is there to muzzle us. When we vote in California to ban gay marriage - the court is there to muzzle us. We cannot allow this to continue. We must vote for Congressional candidates like John Faulk who will listen to the will of the people, and we must vote for presidential candidates who will appoint strict constructionist judges that will uphold the Constitution as a document to be preserved - not rewritten.
