The Presidential Debate Is On - McCain Will Attend
The First Presidential Debate Is On Schedule - John McCain will attend.
My best guess is that he felt he had sufficiently interjected his influence to demand adequate taxpayer protection in the outcome.
I would expect a “Bailout” package agreement before Monday morning, maybe as early as midnight tonight. John McCain is a man of his word and I do not believe he would have left Washington to attend the 1st Presidential Debate unless he had insight for an impending “Bailout Agreement”.
Looking past the political rhetoric in recent days, there is really no reason any potential presidental candidate ready to take office should need 3 days of preparation for this debate.
I expect ”The Old Man” to lay the “Youngster” across his lap and “spank” him pretty hard tonight.
We will see what happens at 8:00pm CST - Houston time.

I watched the debate and my initial thoughts are:
Although the debate was targeted to focus on Foreign Affairs/International Relations it was revised at the beginning to cover our most pressing financial issues right now. However, I didn’t feel that they covered the “Bailout” and the underlying causes that got us here in the first place very well and I think that is foremost on most voters minds right now.
IMO - There wasn’t a decisive winner but I was surprised to see Obama’s lack of composure as he attempted to interrupt McCain several times.
I hope the remaining debates are more informative and we don’t have to continue to hear the rhetorical statements:
“Obama doesn’t understand”, by McCain and “Another 4 years of the last 8″, by Obama.
I sincerely hope each will spare the other side of repeated rhetorical campaign digs and just present the facts as they see them.
We all know that neither candidate is an idiot and that both candidates will present dramatic change from the Bush administration.
As a voter I am much more concerned about America’s financial health, what got us here in the first place and what actions are going to be taken to clean up the lobbying mess (Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac) that caused 354 lawmakers to turn their heads for 2 decades while the housing bubble blew out so large we all saw it on almost every road in America.
I am much more concerned about the return of integrity to American politics than I am about the symptomatic issues at hand because those issues will wane when integrity is returned.
I am more concerned about turning our culture back from an “Instant Gratification Society” of consumers and encouraging personal savings, reinforcing a stronger financial infrastructure.
I as many voters, am concerned about more deeply embedded core issues than I am about hearing another 2 hrs of campaign rhetoric.
I came away a bit dry and somewhat disappointed in both candidates.
Having said that though, I want to note that we do need to replace many of our lawmakers with honest, fiscally responsible representatives like John Faulk. It concerns me as it should you that Sheila Jackson Lee asked for nearly a half billion dollars in earmarks during these dire economic times.
